The host/hostess is responsible for greeting guests and seating them while reflecting the high customer service standards of The Resort at Pelican Hill. They are responsible for opening the restaurant at the prescribed time and ensuring the reception area is clean and ready for guests to enter. A host/hostess must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward guests, other employees and management staff.
Responsibilities include:
• Review the reservation listing and make recommendations as to the set-up of the restaurant for the most efficient seating. • Be prepared to explain menu items, including food content and preparation style. • Be familiar with daily specials and be prepared to answer guest’s questions. • Inspect all menus to ensure their condition and cleanliness. • Seat guests in a courteous and friendly manner and ensure any specials needs have been taken care of. • Understand and use the proper procedure for guest walk-outs. • Recognize and address any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior. • Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents. • Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
Qualifications:
• Ability to communicate effectively. • Possess current health department certifications required to work in a restaurant. • Minimum one (1) year experience working in food service, preferably in a hotel/resort environment. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks. • Excellent communication skills. • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
